About Us

Our History

Richmond Pre-school has been at the centre of the community in South Benfleet for over 50 years providing child care for children between 2 and 5 years of age. For many of those Pat Wright was running the pre-school. In 2010 we were successful in our application for funding and we are now operating from our beautiful new building. Our company structure  is a Community Interest Company(CIC), this is a not for profit organisation, all profits, after expenses have been paid, stay within the company. The CIC has three directors Maggie Catmull, Pat Wright and Sarah Duffy(Manager) who jointly run the pre-school.

The staff

Here at Richmond Pre-school we have a dedicated and enthusiastic team of practitioners. We have a highly trained workforce with two members of staff trained to Level 6, thirteen trained to level 3 and three with level 2.

The Premises

We have a wonderful purpose built building with a dedicated outdoor play area that can be used all year round. We have 2 main rooms, both with child sized toilets and sinks for hand washing. We also have an office and meeting room at the front of the building where we can take small groups of children or use to meet parents/carers. The entire building is secure, using a card entry system.

We have a huge selection of activities on offer which include, painting, gluing, play dough, water play, dressing-up and role play, construction and a host of puzzles and toys. We rotate our toys daily and children choose what they wish to play with.

Richmond Pre-school CIC is registered with Ofsted (URN : EY421247). We received an Outstanding rating in November 2011 and again in September 2015, please view our latest Ofsted report here  http://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/CARE/EY421247. We are members of the Pre-school Learning Alliance (http://www.pre-school.org.uk/)  and we are also a registered provider for 2yr and 3yr old funding with Essex County Council. You can receive free child care from us from the term following your child's 3rd birthday, for up to 30 hours per week and from the term following their second birthday if your child is eligible for 2yr funding.
